What Happens After You Beat the Story?

Congratulations on finishing Pokopia's main storyline. If you spent 20-30 hours getting here, you've only scratched the surface. The postgame is where the real depth of habitat building opens up, with new traversal abilities, legendary Pokemon to track down, and the push toward completing all 303 entries in your Pokedex.

Here's everything worth doing after the credits roll.

Magnet Rise — Your Most Important Postgame Unlock

Immediately after completing the story, your Ditto gains access to Magnet Rise, a transformative traversal ability that lets you fly and build from the air. This changes the game entirely.

With Magnet Rise active, you can:

  • Place habitats in a 3x3 area instead of building one tile at a time
  • Reach elevated terrain in Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands that was previously inaccessible
  • Survey your regions from above to spot gaps in your habitat layouts

Magnet Rise makes large-scale building projects far more efficient. If you've been holding off on redesigning your regions, now is the time to start. Flying placement alone cuts building time roughly in half for complex layouts.

Track Down the Legendary Beasts: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune

The three legendary dogs are among the most sought-after postgame targets, and also the most frustrating. Unlike regular Pokemon that appear when you build the right habitat, the legendary beasts involve multi-step encounter chains with a randomness element.

General approach:

  1. Build the required high-tier habitats in Withered Wasteland (Entei), Bleak Beach (Suicune), and Rocky Ridges (Raikou)
  2. Raise the habitat's Comfort Level and Environment Level to their maximum thresholds
  3. Wait for the correct weather condition — Entei requires Sunny weather, Suicune requires Rain, and Raikou can appear in any weather but only during stormy visual effects at Night
  4. The legendary beast will roam between habitats in its region. You need to encounter it multiple times before it settles permanently

The community reports that each legendary takes anywhere from 1-5 real-world days of checking habitats to fully recruit. Patience is required.

The Legendary Birds

The three legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres) follow an even more involved process than the beasts. Their unlock steps are more complex and require habitats across multiple regions. Focus on the beasts first — the birds are a longer-term project.

Build AFK Material Farms

One of the most satisfying postgame activities is setting up automated material farming using the Community Chest system. This lets your Pokemon gather resources while you're away from the game.

How AFK Farming Works

  1. Assign Pokemon with the Gather skill to habitats near material nodes. These Pokemon will automatically collect nearby materials and deposit them into Community Chests.
  2. Assign Pokemon with the Litter skill to habitats that produce specific crafting ingredients. Litter-skill Pokemon drop items passively over time.
  3. Place Community Chests within range of your working Pokemon. Materials accumulate in chests while you're offline or exploring other regions.

Best AFK Farm Setups

  • Wood Farm (Withered Wasteland): Place 4-6 habitats near dense tree clusters. Assign Gather-skill Pokemon like Aipom or Pachirisu. One overnight session yields enough wood for 10+ new habitats.
  • Stone Farm (Rocky Ridges): The rocky terrain has the highest mineral density. Position habitats near cliff faces and assign ground-type Gather Pokemon.
  • Berry Farm (Bleak Beach): Berry bushes regenerate on a 6-hour cycle. With 3 Gather Pokemon assigned, you can passively stock hundreds of berries for Comfort Level boosts.
  • Rare Material Farm (Sparkling Skylands): Crystal and gem nodes here produce materials needed for the most advanced habitats, including those required for Porygon.

The key to efficient AFK farming is density — pack habitats and Community Chests close together so Gather Pokemon spend less time walking between nodes and chests.

Complete the 303 Pokedex

With 303 Pokemon to recruit, postgame is when most players shift from casual habitat building to systematic Pokedex completion. Here's how to approach it efficiently.

Check Your Progress by Region

Each of the 5 main regions plus Dream Islands has a distinct pool of Pokemon:

| Region | Description | Notable Exclusive Pokemon | |--------|-------------|--------------------------| | Withered Wasteland | Desert and volcanic terrain | Entei, Cacnea (Sunny only), Sandshrew | | Bleak Beach | Coastal and aquatic biomes | Suicune, Shellder, Corsola | | Rocky Ridges | Mountain and cave environments | Raikou, Geodude line, Aron | | Sparkling Skylands | Floating islands and crystal caves | Clefairy, Togetic, Staryu | | Palette Town | Sandbox zone, all biome types | Starter Pokemon, Eevee | | Dream Islands | Drifloon's dream realm | Rare variants, some Mew Slate puzzles |

The Hardest Pokemon to Complete

  • Porygon — Requires the Science Lab habitat, which only unlocks after registering 230 Pokemon in your Pokedex. This is the single biggest gate in the game. Focus on filling easy Common entries first to hit the 230 threshold.
  • Weather-exclusive Pokemon — Goomy only appears in Rain. Cacnea only appears in Sunny conditions. You'll need to build the Sunny Place or Rain Dance Place habitats (each requiring 2 Ditto Weather UFOs + specific food offerings) to control weather in your regions.
  • Time-exclusive Pokemon — Some Pokemon only spawn during Morning, Evening, or Night. Since Pokopia uses real-time clock sync with your Switch 2 (1 game day = 1 real day), you may need to play at different times or adjust your system clock.

Hitting 303

The final stretch from 280 to 303 is the slowest. The remaining Pokemon typically require:

  • Maximum Comfort Level on specialized habitats
  • Specific weather + time combinations (check our Weather Spawn Guide for the full matrix)
  • High Environment Level in the correct region
  • Multiple visits from roaming legendaries

Collect All 27 Mew Slates

The 27 Mysterious Slates correspond to the 26 Unown letters plus the ! and ? forms (27 total). Collecting all of them unlocks Mew.

Slates are hidden across all 5 regions and Dream Islands. Some require solving environmental puzzles, others are hidden behind breakable walls only accessible with Magnet Rise. Check our dedicated Mew Slates Guide for all 27 locations with region-by-region breakdowns.

Collect All 125 Human Records

Human Records are lore collectibles scattered throughout the world. There are 125 standard records plus 9 Peculiar Patterns that form a separate collection.

Human Records reward you with cosmetic items, habitat decorations, and backstory about the world before Pokemon inhabited it. Serebii maintains a reference list, but we recommend tackling them region by region rather than hunting randomly.

4-Player Co-op in Postgame

Postgame building projects are significantly faster with friends. Up to 4 players can join via online or local multiplayer, building in the host's world using their own Pokemon and materials.

Co-op is especially useful for:

  • Large-scale region redesigns with Magnet Rise
  • Farming rare materials in Sparkling Skylands
  • Triggering legendary beast encounters (more players checking habitats = faster spawns)

Postgame Priority Checklist

If you want to be efficient, here's the recommended order:

  1. Unlock Magnet Rise — Happens automatically after story completion
  2. Set up AFK farms in each region — Passive income funds everything else
  3. Push Pokedex to 230 — Unlocks Porygon's Science Lab habitat
  4. Build weather-control habitats — Sunny Place and Rain Dance Place for weather-locked Pokemon
  5. Hunt legendary beasts — Start the encounter chains for Raikou, Entei, Suicune
  6. Collect Mew Slates — Many require Magnet Rise to reach
  7. Finish Pokedex to 303 — Clean up remaining time/weather exclusives
  8. Collect 125 Human Records — Completionist endgame
  9. Tackle legendary birds — The longest grind, save for last

The postgame in Pokopia is genuinely substantial. Between habitat optimization, Pokedex completion, and legendary hunts, expect another 40-60 hours beyond the main story if you're aiming for 100% completion.
